Speed stable:
Race 2: Vivacious Spirit should have won clearly
last start after being slowly away and last in a race of no
speed. Produced best sectionals of the day to flash home
for third after being in trouble getting clear. Looks to
have a big future.
Race 5: La Chasseuse keeps producing high
class speedfigures in good races. Drawn wide but should
cross without much trouble. City Of Ruins scratched was very
unlucky last start when raced up to win but got there too
soon in a race of ridiculous early speed. Gets in with a
light weight & is very fit. Looks well placed here to
get a smother & charge late. A good chance at odds.
Race 6: Electrostatic has best recent
speed & a strong record in New Zealand in similar
stakes races. Can only be improved by first up run &
handles all track conditions. Storm Signal
looks well placed. Carries same weight as she did when
defeating Universal Queen this track & trip after a
spell. Handles all conditions & will settle behind
speed & charge late.
Race 7: Niconero has best speed profile in
the 1400m range & has proven a durable and consistent
horse in group company at each campaign. Caulfield is his
favourite track & any rain at all improves his chances.
Has an impressive first up record (3 wins from 8 tries)
& is drawn to get the run of the race. Winkers go on in
a change of gear & any improvement at all would be
significant. Maldivian has a brilliant
speed profile, but it was incomplete in the Spring when he
didn’t have the opportunity to contest the Caulfield Cup
(when expected to win) which was the best speed event for
the Spring. He can improve his speedfigures further. First
up run was excellent & will challenge for victory in
this.
Race 9: Seafarer has best recent speed for
this (& best aggregate speed) & impressed when 3rd
in good sprint first up. Is undefeated second up and his
speed best is at the Caulfield 1400m. Drawn wide but field
should split & he should be able to cross one off
fence. Gotta Have Heart may contest this
race instead of Orr Stakes where he is an emergency. Very
good run fresh & he will cross and lead (or sit outside
Zyzxx) and has the class to
prevail.

Brilliant effort from Speedratings with 4 top rated
winners: Saratime @ $2.40; Vivacious Spirit @ $2.50; La
Chasseuse @ $7.80 & Seafarer @ $5.30 (these are
Supertab dividends & most clients would have gained
significantly better odds). Vivacious Spirit, La Chasseuse
& Seafarer were in the recommended 'speed stable' today
(8 nominated horses) returning a big result to clients.
Even bigger result if Niconero had not been blocked in the
feature race. Believe'n'succeed @ $9.80 had 3rd best recent
speed.

speed) backed heavily from double figures into $6.60 &
looking home until shadows of the post. Followed by White

exciting prospect. Has carried big weights in inferior

recent speed & is coming off a 5 week freshen up. The
1800m may suit better than the 2000m of last start.
Consistent and a big danger.
Race 4: Princess Gisella has best recent
speed and has impressed at recent starts. Looked set to win
last start against the males but wobbled off a straight
course the last 100m. Ideal barrier & will prove to be
hard to beat. Lady Phoebe has 2nd best
recent speed. Two very good runs in open (age & sex)
handicaps her past two starts when showing blistering speed
early. Handles the 1400m well when fit & the different
tempo will allow her to gain a break that will prove hard
to catch. Danger.
Race 6: Gold Edition is a
champion sprinting mare with brilliant speedfigures just
before going out for a spell. With no Miss Andretti engaged
she gets her chance to bounce back into the winners stall.
Grand Duels has 2nd best recent speed
& this 4yo gelding has emerged as an exciting sprinter
this campaign. Producing strong speedfigures while still
doing things wrong in running. Is undefeated at 1000m, at
Flemington, and this (1000m) course. Not sure if he has yet
finished improving & he may be the surprise of this
race.
Race 7: Tails Of Triomphe has best recent speed
& speed profile & would prove too good for this
moderate field on his best performance & speedfigures.
Britomart has 2nd best recent speed &
is the big improver in this field. A 4yo Zabeel mare who
relished the 2000m last start & may be even better
suited by the 2500m. Big danger.
Race 8: Great Is Great comes in very well at the
weights after the claim. Has best speed profile &
recent speed. Strong effort last start & most likely
will enjoy the galloping room of the wide draw. This looks
a very suitable race for him. Shadoways
has strong aggregate speedfigure for this race. Finds 1200m
against group company too zippy, but yet to really prove
that he can run 1400m. From inside draw Steve Arnold can
put him to sleep and save him for a last run. Can cause the
surprise.
Results:
Hard to recall a day with results so poor. Playwright @
$5.80 had 2nd best recent speed & Musidora @ $12.30 had
3rd best recent speed.
